People maketh the place, and that is certainly true in this case. This humble little hotel in the center of Nako village is run by a charming couple and also happens to be the oldest establishment in the village. It is conveniently located at the entrance of the village where the road bifurcates, one leading to the lake and the other to the monastery.
We visited at the end of November, so there was no flowing water as the pipes were frozen. However, the hosts ensured there was ample water kept in the bathroom and provided a heater upon request. Unlike other places that made guests use a common toilet, this thoughtful gesture was greatly appreciated. The best part was the home-cooked food (the best we had in the entire Spiti circuit) enjoyed in the cozy kitchen by the fire—a truly unforgettable experience."
